As technology advances in today’s world, the construction field has also been reaping its benefits. As we move towards the future, more of these great ideas will continue to shape our construction industry. A General Contractor is the person in charge of carrying out the entire construction on a site.

TBI Contracting encourages its commercial contractors in Pittsburg, PA to tap into their innovative ideas to find solutions while working. Here are some of the innovative approaches that a general contractor can apply in their construction work:

Robots on Construction-Site

Robots are slowly taking over every industry in today’s technology-driven world. It was about time they make their entrance in construction too. Although they are still in their early stages of development, they have been quite impressive so far.
There is always a difficulty for construction companies to find skilled labors that can operate heavy machinery on construction. Plus, they can only work for a limited amount of hours, so you’ll have to hire other persons for the next shift. All these problems will be solved by construction-site robots.

SAM (Semi-Automated Mason) is a brick laying robot from Colorado. It can lay over 3000 bricks in an 8-hour shift which is 5-6 times more than a single man can. Many other types of robots that are still in testing phases will come out in the future and revolutionize the construction industry.

Tilt-Up Construction

Another innovative idea that general contractors throughout the states are implementing is the tilt-up construction. The tilt-up method is much different from your traditional construction methods. Usually commercial contractors in Pittsburgh, PA prefer the traditional CMU blocks used for wall construction.

In the tilt-up method, the wall is constructed horizontally in parts called slabs. These slabs are then lifted up with the help of cranes to set them up in place to be joined like a jigsaw puzzle. This is much faster than the traditional method and can get the job done days earlier before the deadline.

3D Printing Construction

3D Printing is a marvelous piece of technology that is affecting every field in a positive way. Many startups have built bridges and even small homes using this technology. 3D construction printing is still in its early stages right now, but it looks promising for the future of the industry.

TBI Contracting is a construction company in Pittsburgh, PA. It provides all type of construction related services including excavations, concrete construction, heating and cooling systems for newly constructed buildings.
